On this date: Broncos win Super Bowl 50 to cap 2015 season

On Feb. 7, 2016, the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10 to win Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California.

In the final game of his career, quarterback Peyton Manning went 13-of-23  for 141 yards passing with one successful two-point conversion and one interception. It certainly wasn’t the best performance of his career, but Manning did enough to help his team win.

At 39 years old, Manning became the oldest quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl. The record was previously held by John Elway, who was 38 when Denver won Super Bowl XXXIII 17 years earlier.

Manning also became the first starting quarterback in league history to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. Manning also won Super Bowl XLI with the Indianapolis Colts following the 2006 season.

Denver’s defense dominated Super Bowl 50, with outside linebacker Von Miller leading the way. Miller was named the game’s MVP after recording six tackles and 2.5 sacks in the win.

Miller remains a key part of the Broncos defense, and the 29-year-old linebacker appears to have plenty of gas left in the tank. Manning retired during the 2016 offseason and he will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
