On the slide: Chute attraction at new £3.7m Lanarkshire park closed for repair – just weeks after opening

A main attraction at a new Lanarkshire playpark is already in need of repairs.

The Craig and Mini Craig parks at Ravenscraig cost around £3.7 million to install and only opened in August.

A popular feature of the park is a large slide, but visitors at the weekend were shocked to find the slide closed to the public.

A disgruntled dad contacted Lanarkshire Live to express his disappointment over the closure.

He fumed: "I took my little girl over on Saturday and she was really looking forward to playing on the chute. So, you can imagine her disappointment to discover it was fenced off and unavailable.

"It's really poor that it requires repair work after such a short time in operation. With the kids now on holiday there's sure to be plenty more youngsters gutted with the situation."

North Lanarkshire Council confirmed that repair work will be carried out on an unspecified issue.

A spokesperson said: “Since the new park opened in July, the tower slide has been closed twice to carry out repairs and make improvements to the structure.

We apologise for any inconvenience but the rest of the park is open and is proving very popular with local people and visitors.

"The slide is expected to reopen next week.
