At NFL combine, kickers and punters show off their legs — in the 40-yard dash

“Placekickers are 40-yard-dash-worthy too,” NFL Network analyst Rich Eisen said during the broadcast of the special teams drills at the NFL scouting combine on Friday.

Kickers and punters showcased their speed in front of coaches, general managers and scouts from around the league.

Last April, the Seahawks found their replacement for longtime punter Jon Ryan, trading up to select Michael Dickson in the fifth round of the draft. The pick paid off with Dickson’s incredible rookie season.

It’s no secret the Seahawks are in the market for a starting kicker, with veteran Sebastian Janikowski likely out the door at the start of free agency.

Seattle signed Sam Ficken to a futures contract in January to compete for the starting position. He most recently subbed in for the Rams when Greg Zuerlein was injured. Ficken has completed three of six field goal attempts over the last two seasons.

The Seahawks will undoubtedly bring in at least one other kicker to keep Ficken honest, but could this be the year Seattle turns to the NFL draft?

With the NFL combine in full swing in Indianapolis, here’s a look at some kickers and punters who got their shot to impress in the 40-yard dash.

And they’re off!
