On the Beach launches free swim sessions for families in Manchester

Free swim sessions have launched in Manchester and the whole family can join in.

Holiday company On the Beach is behind the scheme, which aims to boost water confidence for all age groups.

Families can book online and choose from seven different venues. Up to five people can be included in one booking, but any children three and under require one-to-one adult supervision.

The sessions, running across the school holidays between now and October, are at the following venues:

  • Abraham Moss Leisure Centre
  • Arcadia Library and Leisure Centre
  • East Manchester Leisure Centre
  • Hough End Leisure Centre
  • Manchester Aquatics Centre
  • Moss Side Leisure Centre
  • North City Family and Fitness Centre

Once you've submitted your details online , the centre you've chosen will call you to offer you a slot around your preferred date.

It's part of On the Beach's #AllSwimclusive campaign, which follows research showing that nearly a third of parents in Manchester (27%) avoid getting in the pool because they are not confident in their swimming ability.

But despite lacking in confidence, parents are keen to improve, as when further questioned, 60% said that they’d like to develop their swimming skills.

Sessions include both safety tips and confidence-boosting games and are designed to cater for parents and their children in order to make sure everyone feels comfortable in the water.

Andrea Tarpey, head of communications and content at On the Beach, said: “Our AllSwimclusive campaign is designed to offer a fun swimming experience to everyone in the family.

"Whether you're a beginner or a confident swimmer, our sessions are tailored to best suit individual needs."
