On The Beach introduces free PCR deal for holidaymakers plus test offers from TUI, Jet2 and more

By Brett Gibbons

Travel company On the Beach is resuming package holidays for September including free Covid-19 tests for UK visitors to Spain and Greece to enjoy the last weeks of the summer sunshine.

The offer comes after research found that the cost of testing was proving prohibitive to travel for many people.

On The Beach is providing free antigen and PCR tests for all bookings made in September for holidays in 2021 to Spain, Cyprus and Greece.

Tests are ordered automatically on booking and delivered a minimum of 48 hours prior to departure. The company has partnered with the government-approved testing provider Collinson for the £1 million scheme.

Research from On the Beach found that a quarter of people who are not currently planning holidays this year said that free Covid-19 tests would make them more likely to book.

Simon Cooper, chief executive of On the Beach, said: “We are thrilled to launch this industry-leading offer for our customers and remove the financial burden of PCR testing for holidaymakers as they get to grips with the new normal of holidaying."

The offer only applies to residents of mainland England, mainland Scotland and NI.

Other tour operators have previously subsidised the cost of Covid tests for holidaymakers, including TUI, which has offered kits for as low as £20.

Here are the latest costs, correct at the time of writing, from some of the UK's main airlines and tour operators.
