On stage BAFTA gaffe leaves Ant and Dec horrified

British showbiz royalty were left red-faced moments after collecting a BAFTA TV award. Ant and Dec's on stage blunder also lead to a comment from the host as the pair exited the stage..........finally!

As the Geordie pair headed off stage at their acceptance speech they looked all confused and couldn't find the exit. Ant responded to the confusion by saying: "Well that's awkward isn't it"

As Birmingham Live reported, the show's host Richard Ayoade joked: "Maybe they should pay less attention to the programme and more about where to walk off stage. A thought for next year.”

Winning the award for Best Entertainment Programme for their ITV One show Saturday Night Takeaway on Sunday, May 8, Dec said: "We were convinced we weren't going to get it this year so we came for a bit of a party." Ant said: "We love doing it, we still love doing it."

The presenting duo took to the stage at the Royal Festival Hall on London's Southbank to collect their award, marking the fourth time they have won in the category.

Elsewhere, during the ceremony, some winners took the opportunity to praise Channel 4, which is under threat of being privatised by the Government. Cathy Tyson was one such winner who lavished praise on the channel after winning Best Supporting Actress for her role in the series Help.

The 56-year-old actress struggled to hold back tears as she thanked the broadcaster during her speech, she said: "I remember as a teenager when Channel 4 was born and it has had many good things to do with diversity and providing a voice for the people who were unheard." Tyson added: "I stand with Ukraine and the Russian people."
