On loan Liverpool youngster Herbie Kane set to miss the remainder of Hull's season through injury

On loan Liverpool youngster Herbie Kane is expected to miss the rest of Hull City’s season through injury.

Kane, a product of the Reds' youth setup, has made two senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp's first team in the Carabao Cup this season, coming on for his debut as a substitute against MK Dons in September before featuring in the defeat to Aston Villa in December.

Kane was named in the League One Team of the Season in 2018-19 after taking in a loan spell under Tigers boss Grant McCann at Doncaster Rovers, scoring seven goals in 49 appearances.

But the Northern Irishman has now confirmed that the 21-year-old will miss the remainder of the campaign with ankle ligament damage.

“Eric is probably going to miss the rest of the season,” McCann told Hull Live after his side’s defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.

“He has torn ligaments in his ankle. It is the same as Herbie.

“It is exactly the same injury, which is bizarre. It is two blows for us.

“I think both are going to get a second opinion from a specialist. But it is very unlikely we will see them again this season.”
