On-loan Cheltenham Town striker Gavin Reilly will 'see what happens' over Bristol Rovers future in January

Gavin Reilly says he is not looking too far ahead during his loan spell with Cheltenham Town.

The Scottish striker joined the Robins on loan from Bristol Rovers in August, and has scored four goals in his time at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, helping his loan side to an impressive third place in League Two.

Reilly moved on loan to get more first-team football, with the Gas having strengthened their attacking line-up in the summer with the likes of Tyler Smith and Victor Adeboyejo.

Whilst he is still looking out for Rovers' results, Reilly says nothing has been decided over his future yet.

"We never had a game earlier this month because of the international games so I went and watched them then, but I’m just keeping an eye on the results," the 26-year-old told Bristol Live.

"I’m just concentrating on doing well here and putting in performances and then see what happens come January.

"Everyone’s worried about their future, football’s not a long career, you’ve got to try and stay in the game for as long as you can and you’re always looking for that security.

"I am out of contract next summer so my eyes are turning towards that but you can’t affect what’s going to happen in the future.

"You’ve got to concentrate on what’s happening now and I’m enjoying it at Cheltenham and doing well so far and the team are doing well so when January comes I’ll sit down with my agent, I’ll sit down with the club and we’ll see what happens."

Reilly has helped his loan side to an impressive third place in League Two, and, whilst the 26-year-old is keeping his cards close to his chest, he says he has set himself some targets for this season.

He said: "I've got personal targets, yes, but I won’t let them out to anyone.

"I think it’s important for any footballer to have targets, anyone in life, you’ve always got to be setting goals so I have got goals which I am close to achieving, so hopefully I can keep going."
