On-duty Vic officer charged with speeding

An on-duty Victorian police officer has been charged with dangerous driving and speeding.

The leading senior constable from the eastern region allegedly drove more 45km/h over the speed limit in Coldstream in August 2020.

He was was on duty at the time, sparking an internal investigation.

Police on Wednesday confirmed the officer had been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, driving at a dangerous speed and exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more.

The 54-year-old man will appear in a court on a date both undisclosed by Victoria Police.
