On campus recruiting visits could resume in mid-April according to reports

It’s beginning to look like the recruiting dead period the NCAA imposed since early on in the coronavirus pandemic could be coming to a gradual end. According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, we should be hearing something soon on a so-called “quiet period” with recruiting.

It’s not really what it sounds like. A quiet period would actually be a step away from the dead period. It means that coaches still can’t go out on recruiting trips, but prospects can make those long-awaited campus visits that have been forbidden for what seems like an eternity. But here’s the caveat; it will be based on medical guidance meaning it is not a done deal yet.

This would be welcome news for almost any program, but especially for one with the recruiting panache of Ohio State. With the family atmosphere, facilities, and tradition, the Buckeye program usually hits it out of the ballpark when kids make it to campus.

We’ll keep an eye on this if anything else is announced, but it does appear as though April 15 is the target for the quiet period to start which is when the current dead period is set to end.
