On being a (pretend) Emmy judge and the best of the TV blogs

I've been pretending I'm an Emmy judge, and have decided on the winners from the list of nominees. In order, they are: Entourage, Ugly Betty, Heroes, House, Ian McKellen ... Ooooh, I could do this all day ...

Quite apart from all that, the summer drags on, and still there's little to do but look forward to the new arrivals in the autumn and mourn the passing of the series now ended. Oh, and watch reality TV. What? You think I should be out enjoying the weather?

Actually, I will admit that most of my week has been spent catching up with Seinfeld, a show I had studiously avoided before last week. I'm now up to series four - but more of that another time.

In the breaks from popping bass we've been catching up with what I now realise is quite an old series of Project Runway. I've seen a lot of the clothes before, from reading about them on witty bitchfest Project Rungay (you see what they did there?), so now I'm rereading it all. But trying not to read the final again, obviously. A girl's got to keep herself SOME surprises. Oh, bother.

The talk on the blogs is still about the to-ing and fro-ing of judges on X Factor. It's always tempting to think that the X Factor contestants just appear from somewhere - you know, SPACE or something, or emerge out of pods where they've been grown, especially for the audition process. But of course that's not true. They're real people and a lot more interesting than the editing process of the show allows them to be, of course. So when you find written experiences of people currently going through the audition process, you do tend to get a bit sucked in by it. Well, I do.
