Omen gets disabled on VALORANT’s 5th anniversary due to this game-breaking bug

(Article updated as Omen has been re-enabled)

VALORANT agents get pulled from the game when serious bugs threaten competitive integrity—and this time, it’s Omen’s turn to sit out.

On June 2, coinciding with VALORANT‘s fifth anniversary, Riot Games temporarily disabled Omen across all game modes due to a game-breaking bug that was discovered a few days after Patch 10.10 was released.

Omen has been pulled out of the game due to a glitch that unintentionally gave players a massive advantage. It allowed them to see enemy positions through his Dark Cover signature ability, essentially creating a wallhack-like effect.

The bug first gained attention on May 31 when Wolves Esports coach Fayde posted a clip on X (formerly Twitter). The video showed one of his players, who was using Omen in a match on Lotus, being able to clearly see enemies and even hear their footsteps when phased during the initial cast of Dark Cover.

“Idk how my player got this bug but he can now see where the enemies are while using Dark Cover + hear the footsteps,” Fayde said, who immediately requested a hotfix from the developers.

However, it took Riot about two days to respond, and on June 2, they officially pulled Omen from all VALORANT queues while they work on a fix.

“Due to this bug allowing Omen to unintentionally see enemies as they appear on your teammates’ view, we’ll be disabling him starting from 5:15pm PT until further notice. We’re hoping to resolve the issue tomorrow and will keep you updated.”

It’s unclear if the bug is exclusive to the Lotus map or if it can be reproduced elsewhere. Either way, Riot made the right call to temporarily disable the controller, preventing players from abusing the exploit in normal or competitive matches.

This isn’t the first time Omen has been temporarily removed from VALORANT. He’s been disabled before due to other major glitches, like teleporting exploits and unintended interactions with his abilities.

Riot stuck to their word and brought Omen back the very next day, June 3. His Dark Cover is fully functional again, so you can use it without any issues.
