Omari Hutchinson set to join West Brom in transfer deadline day loan move for Chelsea winger

Chelsea teenager Omari Hutchinson has agreed to join West Brom on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old turned down an offer rock-bottom Championship side Wigan to join promotion-chasing West Brom.

Dutch giants PSV were also interested in a permanent deal for Hutchinson after selling Noni Madueke to Chelsea for £29million.

But Hutchinson has agreed on a move to West Brom, who are 10th in the Championship and two points outside the play-off places.

The January arrivals of Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix in January have blocked the pathway for several youngsters in the Chelsea academy.

Hutchinson, who joined Chelsea from Arsenal last summer, recently made his senior debut against Manchester City and has made two appearances under Graham Potter.

He has been the star of a Chelsea Under-21s team that is pushing to win the Premier League 2 title.

Chelsea hope the recall of Harvey Vale from a loan spell at Hull City can keep Under-21s manager Mark Robinson's side on track.

A loan in the Championship will offer an important development chance for Hutchinson. Shortly after joining Chelsea last summer, he turned down a loan move to Reading.

West Brom have also signed midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, older brother of Trevoh, from Fulham on an 18-month contract. The former Chelsea academy graduate hopes to get his career back on track under West Brom manager Carlos Corberan.
