Omar Rekik delivers five-word verdict after joining Arsenal first-team training

Arsenal youngster Omar Rekik joined Mikel Arteta's first-team training ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, as the Gunners look to reclaim fourth from Tottenham.

An emphatic 5-1 win for Antonio Conte's side against Newcastle United in north London saw Spurs leapfrog their arch-rivals into the coveted fourth spot in next season's Champions League. However, three points against the Eagles will take Arsenal back ahead.

Rekik is yet to make an appearance for the Arsenal first-team this season, appearing three times in the EFL Trophy. But the 20-year-old has impressed his manager enough to play his part in training.

The centre-back does not lack for ambition either. After signing his first professional contract in January 2021, Rekik admitted that he would one day love to be worth upwards on £55 million.

"Of course it would be a dream to be worth €60million or even more," he said in an interview with Bild. "Because that would mean that I've made great athletic development. But sporting success is more valuable to me.

"I don't have a specific goal. If Arsenal had waited a few months, they would have got me without a transfer fee. Now they have spent so much money on me. I want to repay that with performance. The club is serious about me, and I'm grateful for that."

Rekik was signed by Arsenal for £600,000 from Hertha Berlin but is yet to make his debut for the Gunners first-team. He was, however, called up the Tunisia squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, coming off the bench against both Mauritania and Nigeria.

Now, his sights are set on the Gunners first-team. Taking to Instagram after training on Sunday, Rekik delivered a five-word verdict, writing alongside a photograph of himself and Granit Xhaka: "Good vibes in training today,"
