Omar Colley transfer latest as Celtic target 'under the crosshairs' of English Premier League duo

Celtic target Omar Colley has "come under the crosshairs" of two English Premier League clubs as the transfer window draws to a close - according to a report.

Struggling Fulham and David Moyes' West Ham United are interested in the powerful Sampdoria defender, according to Italian website Il Secolo XIX.

The pair join the Hoops, Liverpool and Parma in being linked with the 27-year-old who has performed well in Serie A since a move from Belgian side Genk in 2017.

The imposing defender who is dominant in the air and quick across the ground scored his first goal in Italy at the weekend and is valued around the £10m mark.

Celtic are understood to be interested in the Gambian international should an offer for Kristoffer Ajer arise that couldn't be turned down.

Sampdoria have five central defenders challenging for two positions in Claudio Ranieri's side and they are open to selling thim if they can negotiate the right price.

Comparing the Colley situation to Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis' handling of Kalidou Koulibaly's proposed move to Premier League side Manchester City.

Samp chairman Massimo Ferrero is adamant he won't be bullied on price and has pointed to Napoli's stern refusal to sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City for less than what he considers market value.

He said of Colley: “But why should I give him away?

“Do you know how much De Laurentiis is negotiating for the possible sale of Koulibaly?

"What are we talking about?”
