Oman announced Sunday that it will reopen its embassy in Iraq nearly three decades after its closure.

The Foreign Ministry said on Twitter that it would "contribute to the development of relations between the two countries."

Iraq's Foreign Ministry earlier said it anticipated Oman would reopen its embassy, which it shut in 1990.

It added that had received a message from Muscat that it was seeking to reopen the diplomatic mission in Baghdad.

This positive development will bolster joint Arab work, it added.
