Oman will on Friday end a lockdown of its Muscat governorate - which includes the capital – that has been in place since April 10 as the sultanate eases its coronavirus containment measures, the state news agency reported on Wednesday.
It said a state committee had also ordered government entities to ensure at least 50 percent of employees are working from their offices from May 31.
Oman has reported 8,373 infections, with 255 registered on Wednesday. Fatalities have risen to 38.
A number of Gulf countries announced this week that they will begin easing virus restrictions. Saudi Arabia plans a return to normal and will begin relaxing measures on Thursday.
Kuwait said on Monday it will not extend its 24-hour curfew beyond May 30.
The cabinet will announce on Thursday the details of a partial curfew and a plan for public life to return to normal gradually.
Kuwait had imposed a full-time curfew from May 10 to May 30 to help to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
It reported 692 new infections on Wednesday, taking its total to 23,267. Three more fatalities were reported, raising the toll to 175.
