Oman, Russia, Syria, and Turkey have condemned the attack on a military parade in Ahvaz, which killed and injured dozens, most of them from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack and conveyed his condolences to his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, calling for enhanced cooperation to combat terrorism.
“Please accept the deepest condolences regarding the tragic consequences of the raid by terrorists in Ahvaz. We are appalled by this bloody crime,” Putin wrote to Rouhani, according to the text of the telegram posted on the Kremlin website.
“This event once again reminds us about the necessity of an uncompromising battle against terrorism in all of its manifestations. I would like to confirm our readiness to continue building cooperation with Iranian partners in resisting this evil,” he added.
In turn, Syria's Bashar al-Assad conveyed a cable of condolence to his Iranian counterpart. “I express to you and to the Iranian people, personally and on behalf of the people of the Syrian Arab Republic, our deepest condolences for the death of innocent victims, and we condemn in the strongest terms this criminal and cowardly terrorist act,” he said.
In Iraq, first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Hassan Karim al-Kaabi, issued a statement condemning the attack against the Iranian forces.
The Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement that it had received with great sadness the news of the death and injury of many people in the terrorist attack that took place during a military parade in Ahvaz, leaving dozens dead and wounded.
The Omani foreign ministry, through its account on Twitter, said: “The Sultanate strongly condemns the armed terrorist attack on a military parade… and rejects all forms of terrorism and violence at any time and place, whatever the reasons and purposes.”
The official Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported that the Spanish government had expressed its condemnation of the attack on the military parade.
In the same context, the British and Austrian ambassadors in Tehran condemned the attack. The British ambassador tweeted that terrorist attacks must be condemned anywhere.
