The Directorate General of Health Services in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate kicked off on Sunday a campaign to inoculate school students, aged 12 and above, with the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
“The vaccination of students in Dhofar is part of the Health Ministry’s national campaign for immunization against COVID-19,” the Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Mashikhi, director general of the Directorate in Dhofar, said the vaccination process has witnessed a high turnout by citizens and residents, and also an expansion of the targeted age groups.
“It reflects the extent of interest and care given by the government to ensure the safety of the people by attempting to provide sufficient quantities of shots to all residents nationwide,” Al Mashikhi said.
He stressed that all centers are fully prepared to receive school students to take the first dose the vaccine, in addition to continuing to serve other age groups who are due for the second dose.
