Issaya Cooking Studio is to host a series of omakase dinners and two interactive workshops showcasing Japanese chef Setsuo Funabashi of two Michelin-starred Edomae-zushi Nikaku in Fukuoka from June 29 to July 1.

Edomae-zushi Nikaku's second generation of chef-owners, chef Setsuo took the helm of the restaurant in 2002 and turned the 16-seater into one of the most treasured dining venues in town.
In 2014, it earned two stars in the Fukuoka/Saga Michelin Guide for its famous for sushi-meshi, or sushi rice seasoned with highly-prized akazu red vinegar, made from the yeast leftovers of sake production, topped with premium seasonal toppings.
Chef Setsuo's pastry chef wife Kazumi has also gained widespread praise for her dexterity in traditional Japanese desserts.
In Bangkok, the couple will host two omakase dinners and two workshops, one on edomae-zushi (Edo-styled sushi) and the other on Japanese dessert, at Issaya cooking studio located at Central Embassy.
Dinners take place on June 29 and 30, each priced at 9,500 baht net per person inclusive of sake. The edomae-zushi workshop is held on June 30 and costs 4,500 baht net including sushi tasting. The traditional Japanese sweet workshop is set for July 1 and priced at 4,500 baht net per person including pastry tasting.
