Olympics semi-final for Motherwell kayak star Deborah Kerr

Motherwell's Deborah Kerr has reached the semi-finals of the kayak sprint singles at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 23-year-old narrowly missed out on an automatic slot for the K1 200m semi-finals alongside teammate Emily Lewis, but then won the third quarter-final against her compatriot to go through, while Lewis heads home.

Kerr, who won the race in 42.742 seconds and consoled Lewis, joins New Zealand's Lisa Carrington in the semi-final, which takes place at around 1.30am BST on Tuesday morning, and if she succeeds, will progress to the 'A' final at around 3.30am.
