Athletes in the Olympic village celebrated the closing of the Tokyo 2020 Games in the traditional style despite the unprecedented quarantine rules in force.
Sunday marked the end of the two-week sporting spectacular which yielded 65 medals for Team GB, including 22 golds – enough to secure fourth in the medals table behind only the winning US side, runners-up China and hosts Japan in third.
Tokyo hosted the closing ceremony of an Olympics like nothing seen before, with the whole Games held behind closed doors due to the Covid pandemic.
The same was true for its final flourish, with no spectators allowed to watch on in the Japanese capital as the end of the Games was marked and the baton was officially passed to 2024 host city Paris.

Athletes were banned from leaving the Olympic village throughout as part of measures to limit the spread of the virus.
However, many sports stars and coaches still managed to celebrate the end of the Games in the less official but still rather traditional way.
The Daily Mail reports some athletes managed to escape the attentions of security to sneak out of the village and buy alcohol from a nearby convenience store, as the partying got under way despite "draconian quarantine measures".
There were antics taking place over the course of the two weeks, some of which reportedly affected the Team GB camp.
A Brompton bike was taken and went missing for days until an eagle-eyed security guard spotted it being used by an unnamed rider. The stolen bike was recovered and taken back to base.
It wasn't the only item taken from the camp during the Games – one evening four of the many deck chairs adorned with the Union Flag brought in by Team GB members also went missing.

It was returned the following morning, though, as they were returned "sheepishly" the following morning.
The Daily Mail also reports one unnamed Team GB track coach was given the nickname 'Elvis' after he turned up in the Japanese capital with jet black hair and "was accused of hitting the colour bottle".
