
Olympic minister Seiko Hashimoto intends to accept an offer from the Tokyo Games organizing committee to become its next president, sources said Thursday.
The panel to choose a successor to Yoshiro Mori as president of the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games held its third meeting in Tokyo on the day.
The selection panel had been making arrangements to field Hashimoto for the post since Mori said last week that he would step down as the committee's president, after coming under fire for remarks widely seen as discriminatory against women.
