I was surprised to read David Goldblatt’s view that “the logic of property markets has squeezed out public and social housing” from the London Olympic legacy (Rio 2016 buildup part of the chaotic and corrupt tradition of Olympic hosts, 26 July) as this is not the case. The former athletes’ village at Stratford has been transformed into the East Village, where affordable homes provider Triathlon Homes owns and manages 49% of the units (comprising 1,379 apartments and houses offered for social rent, intermediate rent and shared ownership). The other 51% of properties are market rented by Get Living London, with whom we work in close partnership to cultivate a unified community and ensure that there is no distinction between the affordable and private properties. Our residents tell us they love living in East Village and continue to be excited by the strength of the Olympic legacy.
