Olympic icon Sir Mo Farah picks Liverpool's 'best athlete'

Olympic and Team GB legend Mo Farah has praised Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and claims he is the 'best athlete' in football.

The Egyptian currently tops the Premier League goal scoring charts with 10 in 11 domestic appearances so far this season.

Salah is having arguably his best season since his debut campaign in 17/18 and Farah believes his current form makes him the best athlete in the game.

“I quite like Mo Salah," he said on on the Seaman Says Podcast.

"The way he went from an average player at Chelsea to go to Liverpool and to see the impact he had at Liverpool, particularly last year and this year, I think it’s incredible.

"As a sportsman you see it, he was already a Premier League player and then he’s changed teams and become what he has done, I think for me, that’s’ the bit where I’m like ‘wow’."

Farah is the most decorated athlete in British athletics history, but did not feature at the Tokyo Olympic games after this year and was unable to defend his 10,000 metre title.

But, as a four-time Olympic Champion, the praise from the 38-year-old is a good indicator of just how sensational Salah has been for Liverpool in recent times.

The winger's current form has resulted in many people within the football world describing him as the best player in the world right now and it seems that view extends into the wider sporting sphere.

Despite a disappointing season for Liverpool last term, Salah is still tipped as one of the Ballon d'Or favourites among the likes of Lionel Messi, with the winner set to be announced in Paris on Monday 29 November.
