Tom Daley has recalled his first conversation with Emma Raducanu after the teen's incredible US open triumph.
The Olympic champion attended this year’s Met Gala, at which Raducanu was also present.
He crossed paths with the tennis superstar and explained the conversation he had with her.
“I remember coming out of the toilet and she was there and I was just like, ‘Oh, my gosh, congratulations. I’m Tom. I think you’re awesome. What you’ve done and what you’re going to continue to do in the future is going to be so great,’” he told GQ in a recent cover interview.
“And I think she probably was a bit like, ‘Oh, my gosh, why is he talking to me?’ I think for her it’s probably just been extremely overwhelming.”

The 27-year-old wore a custom black Moschino tuxedo with leather lacing at his first Met Gala, which was designed by Jeremy Scott.
Elaborating on his outfit, the diver told Vogue : “It was such a cool look. Jeremy wanted to take the classic black tuxedo, and add a little kink by adding the leather lacing.
“I was wearing a vest, and then I had it slightly cropped at the front, with a long back coat. It had all of these tie-up laces down the side, and in the front and all the way down the sides of my trousers, which I really loved.”
Daley thoroughly enjoyed his experience at the fundraiser and recalled other unbelievable moments from his time at the event.
“It genuinely is just food and people having a fun time,” he said.
“My most surreal moment was going to the toilet and p****g next to Troye Sivan, then Rihanna opening the door to the toilet.
“Then walking out and Shawn Mendes coming into the toilet, then hanging out with Maisie Williams outside the toilet, that was kind of surreal.”
The Brit is still on cloud nine after finally achieving his Olympic dream and winning a gold medal in Tokyo this summer.

He described the elation he felt as stood atop of the podium alongside Matty Lee after they won the synchronised 10m platform event.
“It’s one of those things: I’d always dreamed of becoming an Olympic champion and I knew I could do it, but would I ever do it? I didn’t know”, he began.
“When it finally happened, what I thought I would feel in terms of pure happiness, joy, running and jumping around, that was very brief, and then it just hit me: oh, my gosh, it finally happened!
“I couldn’t even comprehend the emotions I was feeling. I remember the national anthem starting and I tried to sing. I wasn’t just teary; I was blubbering. I couldn’t even speak. It was just so overwhelming.”
