Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin does first-pitch flip at Cardinals-Brewers game

Nastia Liukin has the best ceremonial first pitch performance, and it’s not even close.

The five-time Olympic gymnast proved Tuesday that she’s still got it, even though she retired from the sport in 2012. Liukin threw out the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinals-Milwaukee Brewers game at Busch Stadium — it was second matchup in a three-game series for the two NL Central teams — and she absolutely stunned.

From the edge of the mound, Liukin — whose Olympic medals include gold for the 2008 All-Around competition — launched into a front flip before tossing the ball to Cardinals left fielder Lane Thomas.

Here’s another look:

The Cardinals ultimately beat the Brewers, 4-3, to take a 2-0 series lead.

This isn’t the first time Liukin has showed off her skills at a ballpark. She had similar first pitches in 2017 at both Los Angeles Angels and Chicago Cubs games.

There are a lot of different ways to attempt a ceremonial first pitch, but this has to be incomparably the best.
