Olympic diving star Tom Daley takes son for swimming lesson at leisure centre

You might think Olympic diver Tom Daley would not need any help to teach his son to swim.

But the double world champion has started taking his little lad for lessons at a public leisure centre pool.

Tom and 14-month-old Robbie joined a handful of other parents and tots in the water yesterday.

One of the other dads said: “I had to do a double take. This is the last place I’d expect to see an Olympian.”

A staff member was overheard saying: “It’s a bit nerve-racking having someone who is so expert in the water in the class.

"He clearly wants his son to be as comfortable as he is.”

Some of the other dads in the pool were holding in their stomachs as super-fit Tom, 25, got into the water.

The 30-minute group lessons in Deptford, South East London, are around £17 per session.

Tom previously posted photos online of the first time he took his lad into a pool.

British diving star Tom won his first world title aged 15.

He then took bronze at London 2012 aged 18.

Tom is married to Dustin Lance Black, 45, a US film-maker. Their son was born through surrogacy.
