Newcastle Olympic coach Harmonie Attwill wants to see a response from the defending champions as they look to rebound from their first loss since August last year.
Broadmeadow defeated Olympic 2-0 last Saturday, bringing to an end what had been an eight-match unbeaten streak.
Last year's premiers and champions play New Lambton at Alder Park in round three of Herald Women's Premier League on Friday night.
"We're a strong unit and how they respond this week will show their character," Attwill said.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how they respond. I'm also looking forward to some of the players stepping up and moving past the defeat. If we dwell on it then we're not going to move forward."
Olympic dominated large portions of the clash with Magic but could not find the back of the next last weekend.
Brooke Summers and Emily Frost missed the round-two match through unavailability but come back into calculations while last year's Herald WPL leading scorer and player of the year Jemma House is unavailable Friday night.
Attwill also said midfielder Keely Gawthrop was likely to be rested due to hamstring and quadriceps complaints and wide player Georgia Little had a knee niggle but would be given until the match-day warm-up to prove her fitness.
"For the first 20 minutes we probably dominated Magic and we probably dominated the majority of the game, but it doesn't matter in the end if you're not scoring goals," Attwill said.
"So it's certainly an area that we have addressed this week and hope that players in key positions can really step up and be a bit more effective."
The match will continue a testing stretch for New Lambton, who are going through a rebuilding phase and coming off an 8-1 rout at the hands of last year's grand finalists Warners Bay. After Olympic, the Eagles then face unbeaten leaders Magic.
"You can't write anyone off and you can't be complacent," Attwill said. "We need to be clinical, organised and we really need to bounce back."
The game is at 7.45pm. In other round-three action, Maitland host Adamstown at Cooks Square Park on Saturday. On Sunday, Charlestown are at home to Broadmeadow and Warners Bay travel to Taree to play Mid Coast.
