On Monday night the BBC broadcast the first episode of its London 2012 mockumentary Twenty Twelve. One of the main plotlines was a specially designed 1000 Days To The Games Clock which proved something of an embarrassment.
On Tuesday, with 500 days to the Games, the actual, real life, official countdown clock broke less than a day after it had been launched in a blaze of sparklers, reports Owen Gibson.
