Olympiacos ready to 'make a move' for Nottingham Forest-linked goalkeeper - report

Olympiacos are reportedly ready to “make a move” for Nottingham Forest-linked goalkeeper Danijel Subasic.

Both clubs, who are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, were linked with the World Cup finalist earlier this week.

Subasic is set to become a free agent at the end of this month, when his contract with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco expires, and there is said to be a fair bit of interest for his signature.

Greek outlet Sport24 say it is Olympiacos who have moved into pole position for the former Croatia international.

They claim rumours suggest “the management of Olympiacos have decided to make a move to acquire the 35-year-old goalkeeper in view of the next season”.

And they add Subasic has been on the club’s radar for some time, saying: “It’s been a long time coming. Possibly more than a month.”

Forest could, nevertheless, find themselves needing to strengthen between the posts when the summer transfer window opens.

While Brice Samba is firmly established as first-choice, the Reds could be in need of some back-up.

Jordan Smith is likely to fill that role in the final nine games of the season but is out of contract this summer.

It is understood Arijanet Muric will not be part of Sabri Lamouchi’s squad for the remaining matches, following an unsuccessful loan from Manchester City.

And Costel Pantilimon and Luke Steele - both currently on loan - are expected to be told they are free to move on when the campaign ends.
