LUCKNOW: To encourage the 10 sportspersons from UP who are representing India at the Tokyo Olympics later this month, the government has organised a Tokyo Olympic Awareness Relay under the Khoob Khelo-Khoob Badho Mission.
The relay will be organised from July 23, to coincide with the opening ceremony of the Games. It will continue till August 4 and will pass through 51 districts in 18 divisions.
“The relay will start in Rampur and cover a distance of 3,625km to conclude in Lucknow on August 4. It will be jointly organised by the sports department, UP Olympic Association, UP Special Olympic Association, UP Grappling Association and Khel Jagat Foundation,” said a government spokesperson.
From Rampur, the relay will cross through Moradabad, Bijnore and conclude at Muzaffarnagar on July 23. The next day, it will start at Muzaffarnagar, crossing Saharanpur, Shamli, Bagpath, Meerut and Ghaziabad, cover Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Hathras and Mathura on July 25.
Then it will paas through Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Kalpi, Auriya and Jalaun on July 26 and Jhansi, Mahoba, Banda and Chitrakoot on July 27.
In the next leg are Hamirpur, Kanpur, Fatehpur and Rae Bareli on July 28 and then Amethi, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Bhadohi and Mirzapur on July 29.
Further, it will pass through Varanasi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Ballia and Azamgarh on July 30; Mau, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti and Ayodhya on July 31; Gonda and Bahraich on August 1; Barabanki, Sitapur on August 2; Hardoi on August 3 and end in Lucknow on August 4.
