Olly Murs has revealed his decision to take a social media break helped him find love.
The singer, 35, confirmed his relationship with bodybuilder Amelia Tank by making it Instagram official over the new year festivities.
He took the social media detox after he underwent a knee operation and recently revealed on Good Morning Britain that the break helped him reconnect with the realities of life - which helped him connect with Amelia.
Olly said: "It was important for me to focus on myself.
"During that process I was very fortunate to meet my girlfriend as well. After my operation we got in contact again... I was away from this world of showbiz and just at home."
The Troublemaker singer hilariously shared how he couldn't quite believe fitness fanatic Amelia went for him at a time he struggled to stay fit.
"I had my hair shaven, I had one leg, a big belly - I don't know why she's with me," the star added.
After his experience away from the online world, Olly suggested others should reduce the amount of time they spend online if they are struggling in their personal life.
The star, who found fame on The X Factor , said: "If you're having a difficult time, get off social platforms, just for a little while.
"Be in love with the people around you, your friends and family.
"Sometimes we disconnect ourselves from having a normal conversation and opening up about our feelings and we're quite quick to go on a social media platform and write about it. But actually speak to people."
Olly was first linked to Amelia back at the start of last year while at the gym.
He says they started off as friends, began dating and then it fizzled out.
Amelia is dubbed Tank the Bank as she juggles her bodybuilding with a career in finance.
