Olly Murs hasn't watched Caroline Flack documentary yet as he needs time to process

Olly Murs revealed he has yet to watch the heartwrenching documentary about Caroline Flack as it’s ‘difficult to process’.

The singer and Voice coach, 36, took part in the documentary Caroline Flack: Her Life And Death, but confessed that he needs to watch it alone.

Caroline tragically took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40, with a coroner ruling her death as a suicide at an inquest.

“I haven’t actually watched it yet purely on the basis that I’m in the Voice this week and I want to just focus on that,” he explained to The Mirror's Jess Saying.

“I will watch it all next week on my own and I’ll process it all because it is so difficult to talk about it and it’s so difficult to even think that I’m talking about someone that I love a lot and she’s not here anymore.”

The one-off special explore the Love Island ’s presenter’s life and her rise to fame, with interviews being conducted with her friends and family.

The programme also gave viewers a glimpse into her life in 2015, when she and pal Olly replaced Dermot O’Leary on the X Factor.

They had to deal with the social media backlash before they eventually lost their jobs.

“It was important to talk about it was important to - from what I’ve heard from the documentary and what her mum said to me - it’s important if someone is watching that documentary and it could help change someone’s life or change the way someone’s thinking in terms of suicide or in terms of them tweeting something nasty to someone,” he said of the Channel 4 documentary.

The documentary was released on Channel 4 (PA)

“If it could trigger that moment of thought, going: ‘Actually, I shouldn’t do that. That’s really bad’ or ‘I need to get help if I’m thinking of suicide’ and I think that for me is the powerful message behind that documentary and I’m so proud of Christine and the family.

“I love Caz so much. To talk about her life and our experiences and the fact she is not here any more is so, so difficult.

“I’m so proud of her mum, Christine, and the family. It was hard to be a part of it but I hope it helps change.”

Olly, 36, is yet to see the documentary as he is preparing for Saturday's final of The Voice. He is supporting his finalist, fellow Essex star Grace Holden, 18, who is one of the favourites to win.

If she does, it will make Olly the first coach to have triumphed three times.

He knows what she is going through after coming second to Joe McElderry on The X Factor in 2009.

Speaking on the Daily Mirror’s Jess Saying Interview, he said: “I‘ve tried to use that and think what I did wrong.”

Despite his defeat, Troublemaker star Olly has since sold over 10 million records, had four No1 albums, and been nominated for six Brit awards. But he has also suffered anxiety and panic attacks.

“The most important thing is to talk,” he said. “I battled against talking about it for ages. I needed to see someone. It was a stranger and I just let everything out. It’s helped ever since.”

Girlfriend Amelia Tank, 27, has also been a big support. The couple moved in together before lockdown and adopted a puppy – making Olly broody.

“The dog has woken me up to being a dad,” he said. “I can’t wait.”

The documentary also touched upon comments made by stars such as Lorraine Kelly and Graham Norton , as well as a side of Caroline that isn’t shown in the media.

The Voice is on ITV, Saturday March 20, 8.30pm
