Olly Murs has cancelled his concerts in Birmingham and Manchester after being struck down with illness.
The singer, 41, sparked concern when he walked off the stage at his Glasgow gig after just 20 minutes on Thursday, explaining that his “voice had gone”.
The former X Factor star has now revealed he has a respiratory infection and was told by doctors to go on “strict voice rest” for 48 hours.
He was due to perform in Manchester on Friday and Birmingham on Saturday. The singer has not revealed if he will take to the stage for his gig at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday.
Pulling a sad face and posing with a thumbs-down in a selfie on Instagram on Friday, he said: “To everyone in Manchester and Birmingham I’m deeply sorry but I am unfortunately going to have to cancel my shows there this weekend.
“I have contracted a respiratory infection and have been instructed to go on a strict 48 hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal chords.”
Murs added: “I’ve been having the best time on this tour and I’m so sorry to let my fans down, I’m hoping to be fighting fit in a few days to finish this amazing 15 year celebratory tour with a bang.”
He explained that fans will be automatically refunded directly from their point of purchase over the next week.
The pop star concluded: “Sorry again for this, I love you guys and I think anyone that knows me knows how much I love being on stage and performing. I’m hurting big time. O xx.”
He also apologised to fans in Glasgow for calling off the show early in his message, saying he was “panicking” about losing his voice and felt “gutted” about letting concert-goers down.
“To everyone in Glasgow last night, I want to start by saying sorry. What happened last night has never happened to me before and I’m truly gutted and upset about it,” Murs penned.
“In 15 years I’ve never had to leave the stage after 30 minutes into a show, but my voice was failing me. I was panicking and worrying on what to do which gave me no choice but to address it.
“The thought of upsetting people and letting you the fans down has hit me hard today. Speaking in front of you last night and seeing people upset was hard to see but from the bottom of my heart I’m sorry but I had to put my health first x.”
On Thursday, Murs managed to perform only six songs at the Hydro before informing the audience: “My voice has gone. I've never experienced this before, but you can hear my voice is going.
“I want to give you the concert you deserve, so I can’t go on. I’m going to come back, but I need to go now.”
The audience fell silent as the lights were raised, and fans, who had paid upwards of £57.55 for tickets, were asked to leave the Ovo Hydro venue.
A fan told The Scottish Sun: “We were just getting into it after seeing Blue as the support act. He sang five songs, then suddenly stopped.
“He said he’d figure something out, but before we knew it, we were being told to leave.”
In a video posted to his Instagram Story, the musician offered his audience an apology “from the bottom of my heart”, telling fans he was “so sorry”.
This isn’t the first time Murs has had to cancel a show in Glasgow. Last May, he was forced to pull out of his opening performance for Take That just minutes before taking the stage.
In February, he was scheduled to perform in Dubai but had to pull out just hours before taking the stage due to a throat infection.
