Aston Villa will have Ollie Watkins available for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Tottenham.

Watkins missed England’s 5-0 win over Latvia in midweek due to the minor knock he sustained Wales - a game in which he scored in - when the two nations met in an international friendly last week.

However, Thomas Tuchel was confident Watkins would be OK for Sunday’s game when speaking earlier in the week and, on Friday, the Villa boss confirmed the 29-year-old will be ready to take on Thomas Frank’s side.

Emery said: “Tomorrow we will train again, and normally he will be ready for Sunday.”

Although influential midfielder Youri Tielemans remains sidelined through injury, Emiliano Buendia and Jadon Sancho are set to join Watkins in the squad that makes the trip to north London.

Buendia was forced off against Burnley in the victory before the international break, while the latter has missed the last two matches because if illness.

“Both of them are training normally the whole week, and they will be available for Sunday if they are training well tomorrow,” Emery added.

In a further boost for Villa, Tyrone Mings is closing in on a return to action following a two-game absence and faces a late fitness test to determine his availability against Spurs.

“He’s getting better, progressively,” Emery revealed. “He’s training this week individually to add to us. Tomorrow we will see how he is.

“The idea tomorrow is for him to train with the team and, after the training session, to decide if he will travel with us or not to London.”
