Ollie Horgan says struggling Finn Harps shouldn't take solace in UCD's misfortune

Finn Harps have a four point cushion between themselves and UCD in the Premier Division basement - but the Students have three games in hand.

If you had to call the race to the bottom right now, the Donegal side would get the nod to avoid automatic relegation as they are trending the right way and their College rivals are going the opposite direction.

While Harps took four points from their two games in the last seven days, UCD suffered 1-0 and 5-1 defeats at the hands of St Pat's and Sligo Rovers - and have sold some of their best players over the past week, to compound their problems.

But Harps boss Ollie Horgan says his team will be shaky ground if they take solace in their opponents' difficulties.

“Gary O'Neill and Neil Farrugia have gone to Shamrock Rovers and Conor Davis signed for Derry last weekend," he said.

"If our players think that's going to make it easier for us then we'll be turned over.

"Paul Doyle, Liam Scales, Jason McClelland and Yoyo Mahdy have quality and I have no doubt that Collie O’Neill has some new lads coming in who will be eager to impress, so we have to guard against complacency. UCD will be a big threat.

"We're no world beaters just because we managed a win and draw from the last two games. Our lads are going to have to up their game a hell of lot because Collie O’Neill will have his players really sharp”.
