Olivier Ntcham transfer revival as Celtic exit back on after AEK 'check bid option'

Olivier Ntcham to AEK could be back on amid a report the Greek side are poised to make Celtic an offer.

The midfielder looked set for a move to the continent until earlier this week when the transfer hit a unforeseen snag.

AEK were expecting Ntcham to leave Celtic on a free and it's claimed they reconsidered their interest after the Premiership side decided to demand a fee.

The 25-year-old's contract expires at the end of next season but he looks unlikely to have a future in Glasgow after being shipped out on an ill-fated loan to Marseille in January.

Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos states AEK club chiefs are now "checking" whether to make a bid after all.

It means Ntcham could yet get his move in the coming weeks and Celtic could recoup at least some of the £4.5million they paid to Manchester City in 2017.

The former France U-21 international has kept busy during the close season, posting videos of himself grafting through a gruelling beach training routine.

Earlier this week, former Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas opened up on the bizarre episode involving Ntcham that led to him resigning from his post.

Villas-Boas attempted to quit after the club sanctioned the former City youth's loan arrival, insisting he had not sanctioned the transfer.

Speaking to The Athletic, the Portuguese coach said: “One of the things we had between us was we will never sign a player without the full acceptance of the coach.

"And we reach January and we had an offer for one of our midfielders (Morgan Sanson) from Aston Villa.

"And the targets we had we kept missing them because they weren’t available or they were overpriced or when we came in we were too late. And suddenly there are no more options left.

"So the next day I wake up and we’ve signed Ntcham. Ntcham!

"I didn’t say yes to Ntcham. We had no conversation of me saying yes to Ntcham. So I go. And then the battle becomes compensation.

"We had a one-month battle to reach an agreement for me to leave for nothing, which is what I had proposed to them in the first place.”
