Olivier Ntcham set for fresh Celtic chance as AEK Athens ‘give up’ on midfielder

Celtic star Olivier Ntcham is set to stay at the club with Ange Postecoglou to hand him another chance, according to a report.

The Frenchman was expected to leave this summer and AEK Athens were believed to closing in on a move for him, only for them to be unwilling to pay a fee.

He returned to Celtic for pre-season and played a part against Charlton on Saturday as the Hoops earned a 2-1 win in their second warm-up game.

And now media in Greece say AEK made one last move to sign him but Ntcham and Celtic made it clear to them that he was to get another opportunity at Celtic Park.

It's a big turnaround from January when he was sent on loan to Marseille and many thought his Celtic career was all but over, only for the French move to turn into a disaster.

Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas quit after being unimpressed by the fact he was signed without his say so and he laid into the board and Ntcham.

Ntcham has been at Celtic for four years after joining from Manchester City for a fee of around £4m.

He then was the subject of bids from the likes of Porto but they were turned down and he ended up losing his place in the team under Neil Lennon.
