Olivier Ntcham set for Celtic return as Marseille 'move' for transfer alternative

On-loan Olivier Ntcham looks set to return to Celtic in the summer as it's reported Marseille will not take up their option to buy.

The Frenchman joined the Ligue 1 giants in January, with OM having the option to make the deal permanent for around £4.5million.

His arrival proved controversial though, with Andre Villas-Boas offering his resignation after claiming he never wanted to sign Ntcham and had specifically said no to him.

In addition an old interview surfaced in which the midfielder professed his support for Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille's arch-rivals.

Villas-Boas was sacked and eventually replaced by Jorge Sampaoli but things haven't improved for Ntcham.

The former France Under-21 international has made just three starts and has been hooked at half-time in each one.

According to La Provence, Marseille are not likely to take up their option to buy in the summer and Ntcham will return to Celtic.

The newspaper reports that they tried to get Amine Adli in January but were knocked back by Toulouse.

But sporting director Pablo Longoria - who is now club president - promised the player he would return.

And with Adli's contract expiring in the summer of 2022, a deal at the end of the season looks more likely.
