Olivier Ntcham sends Celtic message after dramatic Marseille move that saw Andre Villas-Boas sacked

Olivier Ntcham has sent a message to Celtic after his headline making move to Marseille.

The French midfielder completed a deadline day loan move to the French cub, who have the option of making the move permanent in the summer for £4.5million.

But his arrival from Celtic Park wasn't entirely welcome as head coach Andre Villas-Boas offered his resignation as a result of Ntcham’s arrival.

In a stunning press conference, the former Chelsea and Tottenham boss admitted he didn’t want to sign Ntcham from the Scottish Premiership champions, specifically telling the board that he didn’t want the player.

He said: "The transfer window finished with the arrival of a new player. A decision which wasn't taken by me. I had nothing to do with this decision.

"In fact, I learned about it in the press this morning. It is precisely a player for whom I said no [to signing]. He was never a player on our list."

They went ahead and signed him anyway, and Villas-Boas was suspended before being sacked, with Marseille now looking for a new head coach.

Once all that was over, Ntcham took to social media to thank his previous club and tell everyone what an honour it was to sign for Marseille.

He tweeted: "To Celtic FC, I will always be thankful for everything you gave me and all the best for the future."

Neil Lennon admitted that he expected Ntcham to depart on deadline day, with the Frenchman having fallen out of favour at Celtic and keen to move on after arriving from Manchester City in 2017.
