Olivier Ntcham seals Marseille loan transfer as Celtic set for summer pay day

Marseille have officially completed the signing of Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham on a loan deal with an option to buy.

The 24-year-old made the move to Glasgow's east end from Manchester City in 2017 in a £4.5million deal.

The Frenchman made his debut in the 4-0 Champions League qualifier rout of Linfield and went on to play his part in the quadruple Treble run.

However, he has struggled to hold down a regular place in Neil Lennon's starting line-up this season and hasn't started a game since the 4-1 defeat to Sparta Parage in the Europa League last November.

He has not made a first team appearance since coming off the bench in the Scottish Premiership win over Ross County on December 23.

If the move to OM becomes permanent this summer, Celtic could secure a tidy pay day of around £5.5m.

Ntcham follows Jeremie Frimpong out of Parkhead and is the second big-name star to leave the club this month.

The former France U-21 international has 18 months left on his current contract at Celtic, but has been keen to get out and opted for his own country, despite interest from Newcastle United.

He scored Celtic’s famous winner against Lazio in the Europa League last term, but has fallen out of the top-team picture and can now secure a long-term future in Marseille if he impresses boss Andre Villas Boas.
