Olivier Ntcham's Marseille chaos reaction as Celtic loanee's mentor comes out swinging after AVB putdown

Oliver Ntcham's former youth coach claims the Marseille midfielder will ignore the chaos surrounding his arrival in the South of France.

His arrival on loan from Celtic was slaughtered by boss Andre Villas Boas in a jaw-dropping press conference where he claimed to have rejected the possibility of the 24-year-old arriving. The Portuguse gaffer was subsequently sacked.

And there was more bad news for Ntcham when an old interview emerged revealing he was a supporter of Marseille's bitter rivals Paris Saint Germain provoking fan fury online.

Despite the uproar, Reda Bekhti, his former youth coach at Paris FC is certain the former Manchester City man can shine at his new club.

He's convinced Ntcham has the talent to add some va-va-voom to the Marseille midfield and insists his protege has won't let the media circus affect him.

He told Inspired Traveler: “It is a logical step in his career, he gained experience by playing in England, Italy and Scotland.

"Every time he played for Celtic against a French club in the European Cup, PSG, Rennes or Lille, he has been good.

"He has a box to box profile that OM didn’t really have.

"Olivier has ignored the context of his arrival, he is focused on the game, his performances.

"He has the shoulders, he is square in his head and his private life."

UEFA cup winning coach Villas-Boas had previously revealed he only heard about the Hoops star signing for Marseille when he looked at the internet.

He said: "This is a decision not made by me.

"He's a player I specifically said no to. I learned about it when I woke up and went on the number 1 website for OM news.

"I submitted my resignation, saying that I didn't agree with the sporting policy.

"Management didn't give me final say on things. I don't want money, I just want to go.

"The club has been through two or three years of just doing anything on transfers and I don't want to accept that."
