Olivier Ntcham earns plaudits as Celtic loanee banishes Marseille controversy to impress new boss

Celtic loanee Olivier Ntcham has earned plaudits after making a winning debut for Marseille - putting the Andre Villas-Boas saga behind him.

The French midfielder joined the Ligue 1 club on deadline day and admitted he was left bemused at axed manager Villas-Boas claim that he didn’t want to sign him.

Howeever, Ntcham has left the controversy behind to as he pulled on OM colours for the first time in the French Cup last 32 tie at Auxerre.

Interim manager Nasser Larguet was delighted with the impact of the Hoops loan star in the 2-0 victory.

He said: “I brought on Olivier because I thought the team could do with some extra pressing.

“I want to launch him into this team little by little so that it brings us all the qualities we know he possesses in him.

“This was a good exercise in giving him playing time because he hasn’t featured for some time at Celtic.”

Ntcham is now set to make his Ligue 1 debut for Marseille away to Bordeaux on Sunday.

The Frenchman was used sparingly by Neil Lennon in the Premiership before his deadline move to the Stade Velodrome.
