Olivier Ntcham Celtic transfer exit u-turn after AEK bid fails following Ange Postecoglou praise

A last-ditch AEK bid to sign Olivier Ntcham has reportedly failed.

The Celtic midfielder has been the subjected of interest from the Greek side, who tried to revive their bid to sign him.

Ntcham made his first appearance under Ange Postecolgou in Saturday’s 2-1 friendly win over Charlton.

And the Frenchman is set to be handed a Parkhead reprieve after the Aussie revealed he’d been impressed by the former Manchester City youngster.

And that may have been what doomed a late AEK bid to resurrect a deal.

AFter attempting to reopen talks over the last few days, Greek outlet Sport Time report that discussions “didn’t go well” and the player’s agents have informed them that he’ll be staying in the Scottish Premiership.

A £4.5million looked to be on it's way to completion earlier in the summer, only to collapse at the last minute.

Ntcham ensured disastrous loan spell at Marseille during the second half of last season, with manager Andre Villas-Boas walking out in protest at his addition,

But now he looks set for a fresh start at Celtic as Postcoglou continues to assess his squad while trying to strengthen.

"He has been good at training,” he said.

“It was his first game in quite a while. He is lacking a bit of match touch and fitness but he is part of the squad and hopefully he can make an impact this year.”
