Olivier Ntcham Celtic exit draws closer as midfielder 'agrees personal terms' with AEK Athens

AEK Athens are reportedly close to sealing their move for Olivier Ntcham after agreeing personal terms with the Celtic misfit.

Earlier this week Record Sport told you how the Hoops were weighing up waiving a one-year contract extension option to allow the former Manchester City youth to leave for either Greece or Turkey.

Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has been covering the transfer from the Mediterranean angle and he claims the Greek Super League side have come to an agreement with the midfielder.

Whether a deal is yet to be struck between the clubs, however, is unknown.

Ntcham was sent on loan to Marseille for the second half of last season in a move that was doomed to fail from the off when then-boss Andre Villas-Boas stated he never sanctioned the transfer and promptly quit.

He went on to make just four appearances at the Stade Velodrome and his loan club refused to take up an option to buy.

Celtic could extend Ntcham's contract to fetch a fee from the Greek giants or alternatively choose to just get him off the wage bill - freeing up funds for Ange Postecoglou's summer rebuild.

The Australian was announced as the new Parkhead manager on Thursday and will arrive in Scotland soon - but his pending 10-day Covid quarantine mean the first day of pre-season will be in the hands of John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan.
