Olivier Giroud sends message to Chelsea fans and emergency services during coronavirus outbreak

Olivier Giroud has taken to social media to thank the emergency services and to urge people to stay inside during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Chelsea players are still in self isolation after Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for the virus.

The Cobham training ground was given a deep clean and has since re-opened, however the players are still not in training.

On Thursday, the Premier League and FA announced that there will be no professional football until at least April 30.

It means that the players will be given more time to recover before the campaign can get under way again, if it is deemed safe to do so.

Yesterday, the UK government officially announced the closing of pubs, restaurants and other leisure activities to help stop the spread of the virus.

And Giroud took to Twitter to urge people to stay indoors and also praise the work of the emergency services.

Giroud’s future is still up in the air as his contract with the Blues is set to end at the culmination of the 2019/20 campaign.

However, with the postponement of the season, there is still questions to be answered over what will happen with the contract of current Chelsea players.

Having got more regular football in recent weeks, Giroud confirmed that he would be willing to sign a new deal at the Blues if it offered.
