Olivier Giroud has reiterated his want to be Chelsea's lead striker after getting little game time so far under Frank Lampard.
The World Cup winner has started just one Premier League game out of the four so far, with Tammy Abraham taking up the mantle of leading the line.
Abraham netted a brace against both Norwich City and Sheffield United, meaning Frank Lampard is likely to keep faith in him for the foreseeable future.
Giroud, 32, stated last season that he wanted more playing time before putting pen to paper on a contract extension, however that hasn't come about just yet.
The striker has played just 101 minutes in the league so far, failing to get off the mark so far and being an unused substitute against the Blades last weekend.
But Giroud is keen to make his mark and still get the playing time he wants.
When asked by Le Figaro about if Abraham will be able to keep him on the sidelines, Giroud replied with: "Obviously not! I have goals in my head.
"I'm here to help the new generation, but beware, the retirement time has not come.
"I’m still hungry and have a lot of ambition. I don’t want to be Chelsea’s No. 2 striker, for sure.
"Just because I’m here as an older brother for young people, it doesn’t mean I’m out on the sidelines."
