Olivier Giroud's reaction after Chelsea confirmed striker transfer speaks volumes

Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha believes Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will be relaxed about Timo Werner’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Giroud has been the Blues’ first-choice striker in the second half of the season, but with the arrival of Werner, it could mean more time on the bench for the French forward.

The France World Cup winner has scored some crucial goals for Chelsea in the past, but was left out at the start of the season in order to accommodate Tammy Abraham.

Despite winning his place back, it looks like there will not be too much in the way of game-time for Giroud at the Blues next season.

However, former United striker Saha believes Giroud will not be too concerned about the arrival of the prolific Werner.

“Olivier Giroud is a very tough cookie and he will not worry too much about the arrival of Timo Werner at Chelsea,” Saha told to the Football Index Podcast, via the Metro.

“Giroud wants to score and he wants to help his team-mates. He is a competitor and wherever he is, he will always perform.

“Giroud is very motivated and I’m sure that next year, we will hear about him again. I think he is very underrated.

“He was criticised when he arrived at Arsenal because people would compare him to stylish players like Thierry Henry or Dennis Bergkamp, but he’s a different player and he scores goals for every club he plays for.”
