Olivier Giroud reveals the advice he gave Hudson-Odoi before his first Premier League start

Olivier Giroud and Callum Hudson-Odoi combined for the first Chelsea goal in their 3-0 victory over Brighton and now the striker has revealed what he told the youngster before the game.

Hudson-Odoi was given his first start in the Premier League by Maurizio Sarri and he didn't let the occasion get to him, putting in a performance that made it look like he had started 100 games before.

He got an assist for the first goal after beating his man down the right, something he managed to do all game, putting a cross on a plate for Giroud to grab his goal on his first start in the league since the end of December.

David Luiz to Giroud - Which Chelsea out of contract stars would you keep at Stamford Bridge?

The pair looked like they were on the same wavelength throughout the tie, and now Giroud has revealed that he spoke to the youngster before the game and gave him some advice on playing.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website Giroud said: "I just said to Callum when you have the opportunity to cross have the first post as your first intention.

"I know he loves to dribble past his defender on the outside and after cross strongly to the first post, so yeah, we’ve done well.

"It was a good cross and a good finish I have to say. I had to kick it in the air because the keeper was on the ground. It was tight, but I was happy for the team and myself."
